Ralph Hector Wright

It is with great sorrow the family of Ralph Wright announce his passing on September 12, 2021.

Ralph was born in Miami, Manitoba on August 16, 1929 to James and Margaret Wright.  He and family moved to Emerson, Manitoba 10 years later where Ralph resided for most of his life.  While in Emerson, Ralph was involved in many community activities as an Elks member and loved to help people any way he could.  To name just a few examples, he played Santa Claus (for 26 years), he ran the Elk’s food booth at the Morris Stampede for many years, he came up with the idea of the Red River Barrel Derby, was involved in many sporting events and was active in the fire department and at one time Chief.  He was employed with Canadian Border Service Agency for 38 years as a customs office and retiring as a superintendent.  He was also a talented mechanic known by many to fix almost anything.

He could be seen throughout Emerson in his retirement years and one to have great conversation with, witty and always with a story to share.

Ralph was predeceased by his wife Helen and his parents James and Margaret and his siblings James, Earl and Howard.  He Married Helen in 1959 and they raised Frank and Robyn from Helen’s prior marriage and had a son James.

Because of Ralph’s love for motorcycles a procession of motorcycles will depart from Doyles Funeral Home in Carman on Sunday Sept 19th, 2021 at 2:00 pm.  As per Ralph’s wishes both Helen and himself will be interred together at the Miami Cemetery on Highway 23 west of Carman.  The graveside service will commence at 2:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Emerson Elk’s lodge #479.

Friends and family are welcome to gather at his sons home in St. Malo after the service for stories, refreshments and sharing of a meal.
