RUTH ELIZABETH ANDERSON

1927-2020

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Ruth Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Jill Halstead, son-in-law Allen Halstead, son Rob Anderson and daughter-in-law Debbie Anderson, granddaughter Nicole Winkler and her husband Rod Winkler, her granddaughter Jenalee Anderson, two dear Great-granddaughters, Everly and Cassidy Winkler, her brother George and sister-in-law Donna Jackson, sister-in-law June Roberts and sister-in-law Betty Jewell as well was many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1993. Also by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and sisters Eileen Hennan, Jean Anderson and Mae Ellis

Ruth was born April 10, 1927 in Miami, Mb. She married Gordon Anderson of Sperling, Mb in 1951. They farmed at Sperling until 1968. They moved to town in 1968 when Ruth began working at Circle 3 Feed Lot, a position she kept until 1982. During her time in Sperling she was a member of Sperling United Church, United Church Women, church choir and Sperling Women’s Curling Club.

Ruth joined Carman Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star in 1963 where she held several offices including secretary and treasurer until the chapter closed.

In 1978 Ruth and Gordon moved to Carman, Mb where later Ruth was employed part time at Mitchell Accounting. She and Gordon also operated Anderson’s Antiques for a short time until Gordon’s health failed.

Ruth served ten years on the Carman Handi-Van board and coordinated Meals on Wheels for ten years.

She was treasurer for the Carman Health Auxiliary for 30 years. She was a member of Carman United Church, Carman Five Pin Bowl and Active Living Centre where she enjoyed her activities including shuffling and singing in the choir.

She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness, sharing her garden and pots of soup and baking for ill friends.
