Peter Brian McTavish

May 3, 1948 – November 13, 2019

It is with great sadness that Brian’s family announce his sudden passing on November 13, 2019.

Brian is predeceased by his father Jack in 1987 and his mother Jean in 2007. Left to mourn Brian are his sister Helen Tole, brothers Edwin and Walter (Bev), seven nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

Brian lived his entire life on the centennial family farm near Rosebank.  He first farmed with his father and then with his brother Walter.  Brian’s sense of humor and hearty laugh made him many friends young and old.  Many thanks to his friends who had him over for a meal, to watch a hockey game, sent baking or just invited him for coffee and a chat.

Interment will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Roland with a service of remembrance to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Miami Community Centre with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Miami Area Foundation, Box 334, Miami, MB, R0G 1H0 or to Boyne Valley Hostel Corp (Capital Building Fund), Box 1644, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0.

As a kid I remember ‘box’ coming over to visit with my dad (Allen) and every time he would bring my brother and I a box of smarties. I of course always looked forward to his visits... and for the longest time never even knew his real name... just box, the guy who brought the smarties. I am thankful for these childhood memories and appreciate the kind man that he was. May he Rest In Peace.

Joan and I had the pleasure of conveying Brian and Bob Pinkerton into a Blue Jays baseball game a few years back. The two of them in the backseat, in and back, was to say the least, quite entertaining! There was never a quiet or dull moment! Laughter was everywhere! Now, both are gone and it's very sad. Brian was a great guy...we shall miss him. Our sincere condolences to his family.
