Katherine Susan Hiebert (nee Giesbrecht)

October 13, 1936 - June 8, 2019

Peacefully, surrounded by her family, in Carman, Manitoba, much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and golf partner.

Survived by her children Keith (Carmina), Debbie (Bernie) and Patty (Lem); grandchildren Savanna (Thomas), Taylor and Alexander, and bonus grandchildren Terry (and his daughter Tori), Jason (and his daughter Autumn) and Bryan (Brandi); brother and sisters Doreen, Peter, Edna, Verna (Frank), Viola, Marlene (Alfred), brother-in-law Eddie, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Predeceased by her husband Allan, parents Ben P. and Annie, sisters Elaine and Beverly, brothers Bill and Ronald, brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and parents-in-law and grandparents.

Born in Lowe Farm, Manitoba, Mom was raised on the farm there and went to school in a one-room school house with her brothers and sisters. She had many jobs over the years including as a nurse in Winkler, bank teller in Winnipeg and retired after working at the grain elevator in Fannystelle.

Mom married the boy next door and moved many times over the years within the provinces of BC to Ontario, following Dad with his work in construction. She was the arranger of many wonderful family trips, gatherings and reunions. Settling on a farm close to Fannystelle for almost 30 years, she and Dad moved to Carman in 2007.

Mom made many dear friends over the years and enjoyed her outings with them when she wasn't busy trying to maintain her 100 golf games a year. She "settled" for 82 games this past summer and we're certain she's already started another game with Dad.

Special thanks Dr. Vermeulen and the very caring staff at Carman Memorial Hospital and all those who came by for her highly enjoyed visits.

In accordance with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at the Active Living Centre in Carman at a time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carman Palliative Care Program or to a charity of your choice.

Kathy was such an inspiration. We worked next to each other at the elevator in Fannystelle and she amazed me everyday. Her calm, lively demeanor showed at work and on the golf course. It was fun to ask her how many golf games she played during the season. We loved seeing her out on the course in Elm Creek. She will be sadly missed by so many.

Our thoughts and prayers to the family. Aunt Kathy was such a vibrant person and so full of life! Always enjoyed meeting her and Uncle Allan at family gatherings. She was also a great collector of family tree history and shared it with me (Kathy) and my mom, as my mom also grew up in Lowe Farm and a distant relation to Uncle Allan thru his moms side. RIP
