Lyle Clayton Eby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad and grandpa, Lyle Eby, on Friday, January 4, 2019, at the age of 84. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his children Debra and Vernon (Andrea) and sadly missed by his grandchildren Emily (Wyatt), Britni (Elliott), Carter, and Morgan. Remembering Dad are his sisters Shirley Steeves, Ellen McEachern, brother Alvin (Barb), brother-in-law John Murray, sister-in-law Margaret MacDonald (Colin) and many nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly remembered by numerous friends and neighbours. Dad was predeceased by his wife Phyllis (2001), sister Madeliene Murray and brother-in-laws Corky Steeves and Doug McEachern.

Dad was born in Miami, Manitoba and spent most of his working life at Murta Farms, which then became Smith Farms. Dad was a hard-working man and took great pride in everything he did. He always looked forward to the summer trips to visit friends and family in Alberta and BC. These trips were guaranteed to be filled with adventures and the memories made provided countless stories to be retold throughout the years. Upon retirement, dad took great pleasure in woodworking, which included the likes of Purple Martin houses, Beanie Baby poles, quilt holders, towel stands, and mailboxes. He also took great pride in restoring the church guest book holder at the Riverside Cemetery in Graysville. Watching his grandchildren participate in their various sporting events was a priority and an activity that brought him great pleasure.

It is with much gratitude that we thank the nurses and Drs. Villeda, Atchison, and Woelk for the excellent care that they provided dad during his final days at Carman Memorial Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carman Palliative Care, Box 610 Carman MB R0G 0J0 in memory of Lyle Eby.

So very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I always enjoyed talking with him whenever I ran into him - which was not often enough! He was always good for a joke and a laugh. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers for the next while as you adapt to life without "Dad". Revel in your memories.

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad Debra and Vern. I have fond memories of the years I babysat you both and your dad would come and pick us up in the semi and take us for a drive to Holland. I also remember the summer he stayed home to renovate while I babysat and he was always smiling and laughing. You were both his pride and joy. Hugs to you and your families!!
