Jacob M. Bergen

On Thursday October 18, 2018 our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away at Salem Home, with family by his side.

Jake was born January 30, 1930 to Abram and Anna Bergen near Arnaud, Manitoba. He grew up on a farm with his brothers and sisters close to Fannystelle. Jake married the love of his life on June 5, 1955. They lived and farmed in the Fannystelle area till 1980, when they moved to Sanford. They called Sanford home for many years until 2016 when they moved to Winkler. In May of 2018, Jake moved to Salem Home.

Jake was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His infectious smile and joking nature was loved by all that met him. His passions were farming, gardening, puzzling, games and his family. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Mary, children Dan and Maryanne (April, Scott with children Emily, Riley, Parker), Gloria and Robert (Tracy, John with children Owen, David, Max), (Trisha, Warren with children Alexi, Mya, Jerome, Jessie), (Tiffany, Ben), daughter in-law Leanne and brother Peter Bergen. He was predeceased by his parents, son Darryl Bergen, and grandson Jason Bergen.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Springstein Mennonite Church. Burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Foundation Inc.
