Lavoie LukeLuke Lavoie

April 4, 1990 – September 28, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Luke Lavoie, beloved friend, son, brother, cousin, nephew, and grandson. Luke’s caring spirit will live on in the minds and hearts of his parents Richard and Kathy, siblings Raymond, Renee (Chris) and Matthew and the rest of his family and friends who loved him so dearly.

Luke started his education at Starbuck Elementary School, continuing to graduate from the Starbuck Hockey Academy and Sanford Collegiate. He finished his education at Red River College in the Carpentry Program, achieving his Red Seal designation as a journeyman carpenter, Canada’s gold standard designation for a carpenter.

Luke was a skilled carpenter who took great pride in his work. He loved to do ‘finishing’ carpentry, which allowed his talent and perfectionism to shine. He was also blessed with unparalleled patience that allowed him to do such fine work. In his spare time Luke loved to make gifts for his friends/family, especially out of wood, including wooden phone cases that he customized for each person. Luke also had a great appreciation for nature and loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.

Luke’s hands not only made him a gifted finishing carpenter, but also made him a truly gifted athlete. Luke especially enjoyed and excelled at hockey, baseball and boxing. Luke was drafted to the WHL from his days playing MacDonald hockey with his release and shot setting him apart.

Luke will be dearly missed as he brought friendship and laughter to so many. Luke was a trusting soul who could be counted on to “look out” for those he loved. He will be dearly missed by many, as it was not uncommon for him to make new friends, and lift their spirits with his antics.

His spirit will live on in us for ever. Thank-you Lord for our short and precious time with Luke. He gave us great joy and happiness.

A funeral mass will be held in Starbuck on October 4th – 1:30pm Trinity Lutheran Church with luncheon following in the Starbuck Community Hall. Doyle’s Funeral Home of Carman will be taking care of the arrangements.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba, Central Region, 4 Fort Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 1C4.

Luke, we were not ready for you to leave us and we could never be prepared for such a loss. We know that you are with Jesus and we trust in his plan. His love will give us strength until we see you again.
