James Jim BurrowsBurrows, James Fredrick

James Burrows (known by family and friends as Jim) passed away peacefully on July 8th 2018 at Foyer Notre Dame, Manitoba.

Jim was born September 12, 1931 to Fred and Violet (nee Simpson) Burrows in Miami Manitoba. He grew up on a family farm in Roseisle, Manitoba. After the passing of his father, he farmed the family homestead and drove the school bus for several years. He worked for Maple Leaf Mills as a Lab Technician for over 20 years, during which he went to Haiti to help open a mill. Jim worked for the town of Carman for a short while before opening a bakeshop in Miami, Manitoba. He eventually settled in St.Claude where he spent the rest of his life working on his small farm.

Jim is survived by his sister Dorothy ( Fred) of Edmonton, Alberta, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Violet, sister Jean Clearwater, brother in laws; Arthur Bullen and Elmer Clearwater, nephew Eddie Bullen and niece Audrey Armishaw.

Jim enjoyed different activities in his youth including bowling and golf. In his later years, he enjoyed his pets, hunting, cutting wood, collecting coins and stamps, visiting with friends and drives in the countryside with family. He always had and open door for coffee and a mean game of cribbage on his well-worn crib board. Jim did baking in the past couple of months at the retirement home as part of the recreation and activities; this was an activity he was particularly proud of.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations in memory of Jim can be made to Foyer Notre Dame at 40 Rogers, Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. ROG 1MO

The family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude towards; the nursing staff, doctors and support workers at Foyer Notre Dame as well as the Notre Dame hospital, Treherne Hospital and the St.Claude Clinic for their compassionate care of Jim.

Sorry to hear of your brother Jim's passing. I am Steve Blanchard's daughter and your mom Auntie Violet was the only aunt from the Simpson's I used to know! She was always so good to me and always treated Dad like a brother! I only slightly remember Jim, and my husband I I used to talk to him in Chicken Chef once in a while in Carman. Sincere Condolences.
