Jefkins PressBarry Charles Jefkins

On Monday February 26, 2018 at Boundary Trails Hospital, Barry Jefkins, aged 79, peacefully passed with his family at his side.

Barry was born in Carman and lived in the community his entire life. He grew up on the family farm in the Albert District area. Barry married the love of his life Elaine in 1963. He took over the family farm from his parents in 1966 where he and Elaine farmed and raised their two daughters.

Barry was also a dedicated school bus driver for over 40 years. He safely transported generations of students to school and back home. Community and friendships were very important to Barry. Coffee shop meetings were a part of his daily routine and he cherished the many friendships he had made during these visits.

Barry had many interests he enjoyed in his retirement. He loved curling, playing pool, and travelling. But his greatest passion was the game of golf. Barry and Elaine enjoyed many beautiful days on the golf course.

Barry was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Phyllis, and his brother Hilton.

Barry is survived by his wife Elaine and two daughters: Linda (Jeff) Doerksen and daughters Katherine and Hannah; Gweneth (Paul) Gislason and son Tyler.

Barry was a loving husband, father, and friend and will be sadly missed by all.

The family would like to thank Dr. Woelk and nurse Stacey and all staff on the palliative ward at Boundary Trails Hospital.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Boundary Trails Palliative Ward or the Carman Memorial Hospital Palliative Ward.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00am at the Carman United Church with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. Viewing will take place at Doyle’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 7:00pm.

We wanted to share our condolences with Barry'sfamily. It is never easy to have to say goodbye to a loved one. The pain of loss can be unbearable. Our Creator promises us that one day this pain will be just a memory. That beautiful promise can be found at Revelation 21:3,4. Our pain and suffering will be a thing of the past, and we can cry tears of joy as we welcome back the ones that we love so much. We hope you find comfort in those promises.

Barry was such a gentle man, and always smiling. He was a good friend and neighbor to Mom and Dad, and when I think of him, I smile. He will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to you, Elaine and your daughters and grandchildren. I grew up a mile from the Jefkins farm and always knew if I had any problem enroute to Albert School, I could always drop in for help. Barry was always the same, kind, gentle and smiling. I am very sad he is gone but his memory lives on.
