Rankin Lois orig photoLois Elaine Rankin (nee Waldie)

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Lois Rankin, beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife, grandmother on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the age of 82.

Lois was predeceased by her husband, John Rankin, October 16, 2011.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jim (Barb), Ron (Mae), Diana (Barrie) Budd, Rob, Dave and her grandchildren who she held close to her heart, Janet (Ory), Sarah, Chris, Darris (Lynne), Mandie (Steph), Vanessa (Dave), Taren, Tori, Erica, Rowyn, great grandchildren Charlie, Declan, Brayden, Cole and Zoey.

She also leaves behind her brother Brian (Darlene), sister in-law Eileen Waldie and brother in-law Ken McKenzie. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Aileen Waldie, brother Stewart Waldie, sister Betty (Morris) Edkins, and sister Carol McKenzie.

Lois had a career in nursing, after her training she was posted at Killarney hospital where she was talked into going on a blind date which turned into her meeting the love of her life John and a new chapter began.  Lois took a leave of absence from nursing to raise her family.  In 1966 when her children were all on school she decided it was time to return to the working field.  After taking a refresher course in Morden she took a full time position at Notre Dame Foyer where she was employed until her retirement.

Moms devotion to our family was boundless.  She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren passionately.  She was a devoted wife to John.  She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother who loved life, a good joke, a laugh and always a hug.

As difficult as it is to let go, we know your suffering has ended, and you’re back dancing with dad.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church.  Interment will take place in the Altamont Cemetery.

Our sincere sympathy to each of you in the passing of your mom. We always will remember a fun-filled day of laughter with your mom and Belva when we cross-country skied at Birch Ski Area unknowingly in the "winter games tryouts"!!!

I was so saddened to see the news of Lois's passing. I used to visit her and enjoyed her lively chatter while I vi[censored]d my mom. She always remembered and added to the stories of the rotten teenagers that hung out at her house. She will be missed for her zeal and love of life. My condolences to you all.

The Rankin family have lost a warrior, mind you, a very fun warrior. Lois carried on having fun every day. It was so wonderful to be part of her 'family' for those years we were neighbours. I love her laugh, her generosity, her baking, her joy. Such a gift to all who knew her. Our sincere sympathy to her beloved family.
