Foidart Mark orig photoIt is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mark Foidart, who died on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the MacGregor Health Centre, age 60 years. He leaves behind his wife Heather; children Colette (Tyler); Jennifer (Jason); Brennen (Val); Elyssa (Brian) and Chase.  His much loved grandchildren Emyrsen, Cameron, Kayden, Taylor, Parker and Brody.  As well as siblings, nieces, nephews and close friends.Mark was born on May 11, 1956 in Holland MB.  As a child, he lived and attended school in Bruxelles MB and as soon as he was old enough to keep up, he began working with his father in construction.  He continued on this path, securing his journeyman in carpentry, also achieving his red seal, which he was very proud of.  As a strong believer in ongoing education he continued to achieve numerous additional certifications over the years and was always excited to learn more.  After years of self-employment in carpentry he moved to MacGregor MB and worked maintenance in the MacGregor Health Centre, and later went on to manage the Coop gas bar; became RM of Norfolk building inspector and manager of MacGregor Coop Home Centre.Although work was one of his greatest passions, he still found time to volunteer and give back to his community through organizations such as the local fire department, Lion's Club, and school programs and activitiesMark was very patriotic; always reminding us to be grateful Canadians. He loved to camp, loved Edwards coffee, loved the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and ultimately spent any free time he had enjoying his family and friends.

Mark's greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren.  Nothing brought a smile to his face like watching a child play or holding a baby.  He spent his life putting others before himself always.  He was kind, compassionate, positive and above all, loyal.  His smile was contagious and even on his final days, spent his energy easing others around him through humour and kindness.Mark fought a long difficult battle with cancer with exceptional dignity and grace.  The family would like to sincerely thank all of the medical professionals, friends and family who helped in this journey for their incredible support and kindness.  We are forever grateful.

A gathering of friends and family took place on Monday, December 12, 2016 in MacGregor, MB.If family and friends so desire; donations can be made in Mark's honour to the following organizations HSC - Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, MacGregor Emergency Fund or MacGregor Health Centre.
