Doolan Evelyn web photoDorothy “Evelyn” Doolan, 92, died peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was unable to recover from a small stroke.

Born on Nov. 29, 1923, in Calgary, Alberta, the daughter of Edna Doyle and Leslie Doolan. She was a dedicated and talented figure skater from the age of eight until 1962. She skated and organized many carnivals as a member of the Skating Club in Carman, Manitoba, and appears on the Town Mural to this day. She served for 39 years as an Accounting Clerk with the Manitoba Department of Mines and Natural Resources until retiring in 1983.

‘Evy' always referred to herself as an “unclaimed treasure” and spent her life dedicated to traveling with her close friend Marj Reed. A gracious, fun loving person with a sharp and engaging wit, she was surrounded by the extended family who she loved when she passed.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital on three south for their loving care and attention.

Survivors include amongst others her close cousins Gloria Moore of Kamloops, BC, and Beverley Didur of Hornby, Ontario, their husbands, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Place in Winnipeg with reception to follow. Interment will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2016 in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman at 1:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
