­­­Margaret Irene Burnett

Irene Burnett peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Carman Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by loving husband Dick Burnett, sister Jean Walker (Wes), and brother Jim McIntosh (Joan Johnston).

Irene is survived by her son Rick (Terri), grandchildren Patrick (Jocelyn), Nicole (Vincent), great-grandchild Carys and sister Nedra Burnett (Bob), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Irene was born on March 6, 1927 to Jim and Maggie McIntosh on the family farm at Stephenfield, Manitoba. In 1948, she married Dick Burnett and moved to Winnipeg. Irene worked at The Bay for 30 years and retired in 1992. Dick and Irene moved home to Carman in 1996 where she enjoyed her retirement years with all her friends in Riverview Place. Irene will be remembered by her family and friends for her generosity, kindness, strong will, and sense of humor.

As per Irene’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at the Riverview Legion Place, Carman. (please use south door). Private family interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Graysville.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Carman Memorial Hospital for their loving care and support. Words cannot express our gratitude for everything done to make Irene’s last few days of life comfortable.
