April 1, 1926 – April 21, 2015

As the sun set, our beloved husband, dad, papa and great grandpa passed away peacefully after a lengthy struggle with lung cancer, at Carman Hospital. Dad never gave up hope that he would beat the odds and return home.

Dad was born to Charles and Elizabeth McIntosh at Eriksdale, Manitoba on April 1, 1926.

Dad was predeceased by his half brothers John and James Smith and grandson Scott McIntosh.

Survived by his loving wife of 66 years Jean, daughters Charlene (Clint) and Lori and son Ian and grandchildren, Gregory, Alexander (Amanda), Kaitlyn, George, Katarina, Carly, Laura, Evan and great grandson Jaxson. Brother Robert (Roz), sister Betty (Marven) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad and mom married and raised their family in St. Vital and once retired moved to Elm Creek, Manitoba. Dad worked for Tuckett and Imperial Tobacco for 35 years before retiring. He also served in the Canadian Armed Forces and was a long time member of the Fort Garry Legion #60.   Dad was a voracious reader, loved gardening and traveling to visit family in the interlake and out west.

Special thank you Dr. C Woo, and Dr. C. Woelk and palliative services and of course to Carman Hospital staff for all the wonderful care he received during his lengthy stay.

Cremation has taken place as per Dad’s wishes.

Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Elm Creek, Manitoba on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Carman Hospital Palliative Care, Box 610, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0.
