Winalda Ann McDonald

 

Winalda Ann McDonald, aged 65, of Winkler, Manitoba, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Boundary Trails Health Center after a well fought battle with cancer.

Winalda was born and raised in Carman, Manitoba. She obtained her nursing diploma from Red River College and worked all over Canada. Winalda loved being a nurse and caring for others. The highlight of her career was traveling to the Canadian North to work with the Inuit people. Winalda was a devote evangelical Christian and enjoyed being a part of many church congregations throughout her life.

In her spare time Winalda enjoyed doing elaborate counted cross stitch designs and she was well-known as an excellent chef, baker and hostess. However her most favorite pastime was traveling and spending time with her three grandchildren.

Winalda is survived by her beloved husband Winston McDonald, also of Carman, as well as her only child, daughter Leanne McDonald Luehrman, her son-in-law Dr. Glen Luehrman and her grandchildren Alexandra, Blake and Brooks Luehrman of Fort Myers, Florida. Winalda is preceded in death by her parents and many friends and relatives.

Funeral service was held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Doyle’s Funeral Chapel followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care program at the Carman Memorial Hospital.
