Bill Vandersluis passed away at his home at the age of 81.

He was born in The Netherlands and since 1953, lived in the Carman area. He was predeceased by his wife, Hilly, in 2013 and their son Charly in 2008.

He is survived by three sons, a daughter in law, two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill and Hilly were married on May 27, 1955. He spent several years working as a milkman for Carman Creamery and later they began Carman Greenhouses in the north end of town. In 1976 they took up farming on 35-6-4W in the RM of Dufferin. He enjoyed many years of farming there, and once again started up with the greenhouse business on the farm. Bill enjoyed many hobbies such as woodworking and he spent numerous hours in his workshop, working on various projects. Bill was a special man. If you met him once, you’d never forget him.

A funeral service took place on Thursday, September 4 at the Canadian Reformed Church of Carman East with Rev. S. Vandevelde officiating. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Industries, Notre Dame or Carman Palliative Care.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the numerous family and friends both near and far who have supported mom and dad with love and prayers over the last number of years.
