It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Stein, on March 2, 2014 at the age of 84.

Henry leaves to mourn his loving partner Dolly Herkert. He will be sadly missed by Jim, Kathy, Tony, Mitch, and Lorraine, Jim, Willie and Robyn. He was predeceased by his older siblings Johan and Elisabeth. He is survived by younger brothers George and August, his in laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.   All who knew Henry, will dearly miss him dearly.

Henry was born on April 15, 1929 in Hungary. He emigrated from Germany to Montreal, Quebec in 1953. He moved to Brunkild in the 1970’s, where he worked as a welder and farmed. Upon retirement, Henry kept busy as a caretaker for the Brunkild Memorial Recreation Centre. He loved to tinker in his workshop and was well known for his handmade grain augers and bins. He celebrated the 50th anniversary of his arrival in Canada during the Brunkild Centennial, in 2003. Henry and Dolly later moved to Mandan Manor in Sanford, where he kept busy walking around town and watching televised sports.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of CarmanMemorialHospital for their wonderful and supportive care. As per Henry’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brunkild Memorial Recreation Centre, Brunkild, MB.
