Gladys Elizabeth Schott (nee Joy)

Mom passed away peacefully June 5, 2014 in her 87th year.

She came to Canada from London, England, as a young war bride, warmly welcomed into the large family of her new husband, Richard, with whom she spent 64 years until his death in 2009.

She returned to England many times to visit family. Special trips were with her long-time friend, Alice and sister-in-law, Isabelle.

Mom and Dad raised their two boys in Fort Garry. Mom briefly worked at the U of M, and enjoyed curling, knitting, and needlepoint.  She and Dad spent a few years in Elm Creek, but retired to Fort Garry, close to her beloved grandchildren, whose company she cherished.

She is survived by her sons, David (Cathy) and Albert (Gaylen), grandchildren, Jeff, Christine, Daniel, Aaron, and Ainsley, and great-grandchildren, Paige, Sarah, Brock, Amber, Eddie, and London, her brothers, David (Shirley) and Richard (Allison) in England, brother-law, Ed (Marianne), sister-in-law, Edna, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the wonderful caring staff of Prairie View Lodge in Pilot
Mound, MB, where Mom spent her last years, down the hall from Isabelle.

A family graveside service will be held at Thomson in the Park on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted in her memory at: Prairie View Lodge Foundation, c/o Alternative Care Unit, Apt 26 - 424 Broadway Ave., Pilot Mound, MB., R0G 1P0.
