Eunice Joyce Parkinson (nee Nichols)
1924 – 2013
On Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Carman Memorial Hospital, Eunice Parkinson aged 89 years of Miami, MB passed away. Eunice was born on the home farm in the Graysville district. She was the youngest of ten children.
In 1948 Eunice married Jim Parkinson and joined him working on the family farm north of Miami. She enjoyed growing a large garden every year and sharing the produce with her relatives until 1974 when they retired to Miami. Living in Miami meant more time for volunteer work convening fall suppers and lots of quilting. In 2004 Eunice moved into the Leisure Apartments in Miami and enjoyed her later years playing games, doing puzzles, gardening and visiting with her neighbours
in the apartments. She always looked forward to her card games at the friendship center and the Collingwood. She also spent many hours watching her beloved "Blue Jays". Baseball was always a very important sport for the Nichols
family.
Eunice is predeceased by her husband James Parkinson, parents Ben and Gertrude Nichols, sisters Eva (Frank) Owens, Nellie
(Verse) Jenkins, Lydia (Bob)Lowe, Gertie (Jack) Milburn, Alice (Charlie) Doherty, brothers Fred, Wes, Harold
(Helen), Len (Margaret).
She leaves to mourn her son, Fred (Diane) of Miami, grandchildren Shannon (Ernie) Watson, Heather (Matthew) Kaminsky, Joni (Bruce) Harbin, Delany Parkinson (Mark Hiebert) and great grand children Kaylin, Sara, Mason, James, Louis, Ethan, and Bree as well as many nieces and nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Greyling and staff for all the wonderful care Eunice received in both Boundary Trails Health Centre and Carman Memorial Hospital. Special thanks also to the many home care workers Eunice had the last few years at home and to the special friends that picked her up for card games.
