August Ken - orig photoKenneth Edward August of Clermont Florida passed away July 6th 2013 at the age of 79. He was born June 22nd 1934 in Carman Manitoba, Canada, son of Archie and Sophie August of Homewood, Manitoba.

Dad attended Garnett School and Sperling High School. In 1954 he married Barbara Birch of Charleswood. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 12th, 2013.

Dad and Mom lived on the family farm for 30 years while raising their 7 children. During those years, he served as president of St Amant Society; charter president of Carman Lions Club; secretary treasurer of Manitoba Sugarbeet Association; and an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, as well as a charter member of the local Knights of Columbus.

In 1981, they moved to central Florida and then to the Clermont area where they joined Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Dad retired after 15 years as a Disney cast member. His best Disney experiences were driving the Monorail and visiting with and entertaining the guests with his fun loving personality.

He was predeceased by his son James Gregory August in 1991.

Dad is survived by his wife Barbara, their children Bill (Kelly), Frank (Wendy), Howard (Kathy), Kathleen (Nicolas), Andrea (Kevin), Leanne (Michael). A proud grandpa of 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Dad is also survived by his siblings Annabelle August, Ted (Dawn) August, Wanda Brockie, Sandra Valois, and his special aunties Aunt Stella and Aunt Anna. In addition, his loving brothers and sisters in law and their families, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dad was a devoted husband and family man. A devout Roman Catholic Christian. A man who possessed a strong work ethic. His true passion was being with family and friends, sharing ‘Barbie’s” home cooking, reminiscing with stories, and ending the evening with music and song.

Mass of the Resurrection for Ken will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Friends Community Church in Carman, Manitoba. Graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery following the Mass. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the Carman Legion Hall.
