With deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Thomas Edward Hidson on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the St. Boniface Hospital.

Tom was predeceased by his wife Phyllis, and numerous brothers and sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing daughter Dilys Carol (Alex), and their children Janet and Christine (Martin); son Thomas Desmond (Lynn) and their children Sean, and Stephanie; and son Dwayne Edward and his children Amelia (Bryan) and Thomas.

Dad served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 32 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He served in the Second World War, the Korean War and Vietnam. Upon retirement he went back to work in management positions at Zellers and Reimer Express Lines. Thomas was the President of the CFCA – Fort Rouge/River Heights, and was a member of the Charleswood Legion #100 for 45 years.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Doyle's Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. A lunch will follow from the Carman Legion Ladies Aux. Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Royal Canadian Legion Branch or to a charity of one's choice.

He was a proud Canadian, a man of honor.
