MomStout21With family by her side, Mary Stout passed away on January 12, 2013 at the Boyne Lodge where she has been residing for the last 11 years. She was born in the Goodlands, Manitoba area and moved to Carman at a young age. She was one of nine children. She met her future husband James and they were married in 1940 and made Carman their permanent home. During her life, she worked beside her husband in their garage (Stout's Service Station) and later in the construction business (Main Construction). They finally retired; but, this just gave her the chance to work somewhere else. She also worked at Syl's Drive Inn, and then the Carman Golf course, where she eventually became the Club House Manager. With the help of her husband she spent many long, but happy, days there where she made many new friends. Mary was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed her volunteer work. One of her favorite sports was curling, both watching and playing. With both her children and their families living awayfrom Carman, she was especially happy when her granddaughter married and moved back to Carman as she was able to enjoy watching with great pride her great-grand children in all their endeavors.

Mary was predeceased by her husband James Stout in 1982.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bill) of Brandon, Manitoba and son Don (Louise) of Kelowna, B.C., five grandchildren: Rod, Cathy, Bev, Brad and Bobbi, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. She is also survived by her sister Helen and brother James.

No words can express the care and compassion our mom received from the staff at the Boyne Lodge. Their thoughtfulness and consideration during her stay is greatly appreciated.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Doyle's Funeral Chapel, Carman. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 10-120 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB or to the Boyne Lodge, Box 1644, Carman, MB.
