It is with great sadness that the family of Georgina McCullough announces her passing on October 28, 2011 at Carman Memorial Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her granddaughter, Shayden and her mother Lynn, grandchildren Neil and Stacie and their parents Jack and Barb, grandchildren Richelle and Tanner and their parents Pat and Lana, brother Arthur Last, and her large extended family.
Georgina was born in Winnipeg on January 15th, 1940 to Harold and Hilda (Kenward) Last of Homewood. After graduating from Carman Collegiate in 1956, she attended teaching college. Georgina started teaching at Garnett School, a one-room school in the RM of Duffern. Over her career, she taught in elementary schools in St.Germain, Roland, Graysville, and finally, Carman. On April 1st, 1961, she married James (Jim) McCullough. They had two sons, Pat and Jack, and adopted daughter Lynn.
She had three passions: her family, her church, and the children she taught. She was an active volunteer in the Carman community, including for Grace St. John's Church, the Dufferin Agricultural Society, Boyne Lodge, and numerous other organizations over her 71 years. She had many hobbies over the years, from curling with friends, to quilting pieces for her grandchildren, to caring for her extensive garden.
The family wishes to thank Pastor Trudy and the congregation of Grace St. John's Church, all the staff at Carman Hospital and St Boniface General Hospital for their many acts of kindness, extended family and friends for their thoughtfulness and support and Doyle's Funeral Chapel.
A celebration of Georgina's life was held on Sunday, October 30th at Grace St. John's Church in Carman. Donations may be made in Georgina's honor to The Kidney Foundation of Canada (1-800-729-7176) or to Grace St John's Church.
