Ivan passed away peacefully at the age of 92, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Boyne Lodge. Ivan was born on July 6, 1919 in Carman to Myrel and Alexander McIntosh. He was predeceased by his wife Nina in 1997, parents, sisters and spouses, Margaret & Tony Johnson, Thelma& Bert Harrison, Noreen Burnett, and brother-in-law Jack Hirst.

Ivan was a farmer all his life, first in Graysville, then south of Carman, where he made his home with his wife Nina, who he married in 1950. He loved a challenge, and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix, haul or move. He loved his farm and family, and right to the very end enjoyed hearing how harvest was progressing.

He is survived and will be missed by his two sons and families; Alex, Lorraine, children Erin & Dylan Pethybridge, Scott (Aly Jamieson), & Ryan; Bruce, Tracey, children Jason (Jenn Adams), Lindsey & Rob Hetherington, & Graham, and great-granddaughter, Cameron Pethybridge. Also surviving are his brother Bob & wife Ida, sister-in-law, Lillian Hirst, and brother-in-law, Gordon Burnett, and several nieces and nephews.

Ivan & Nina retired to Carman in 1977, where he continued to work, with his involvement in MAC Hog Farm, and helping his sons with farming for many years. They enjoyed travelling to various places in the US, and spent several winters in Victoria with many friends from Carman.

Funeral service was held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Carman United Church with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment took place at the Graysville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carman Hospital Palliative Care Fund, Box 610, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0.
