Olga Dyck
July 6, 1926- June 11, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother Olga Dyck (nee Dalke) at the Boyne Lodge in Carman. Olga was born near Morden, MB. She was predeceased by her parents David and Katherina Dalke, her brothers John, Cornelius and Arnold, her sisters Katherine, Linda and Edna, 1 niece (in infancy) and 1 nephew. She is survived by her daughter Colleen (Hank, Janessa and Brett), Son Clinton (Debbie), Daughter Elaine (Nelson, Joshua and Keenan), son Kevin (Mandy, Nathan and Mackenzie), 1 sister in law Nettie Dalke and 1 brother in law Bert Klassen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Olga attended school at Parkhill, Burwalde, and High School at Morden. She graduated from Normal School and taught school at Plum Coulee, Forest and Hopeland.
Mom had a passion for flowers and gardening. She spent countless hours outside working. She hauled water in the Carman area as well as worked at Carman Co-op Hardware, Winkler and Carman Florists. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, liquid embroidery. We have many articles as wonderful keepsakes that she lovingly made.
In 2008 when she was no longer able to live on her own due to Dementia, Mom moved into the Boyne Lodge where she lived until her passing. Mom’s faith remained strong through the many health issues she struggled with. We take great comfort in knowing that she is safe in the arms of Jesus, and free from pain.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 14 at Friend`s Community Church. Donations can be made to the Boyne Lodge. Doyle’s Funeral Chapel, Carman, in charge of arrangements.
