Don was born on August 19, 1936 in Carman. He grew up on the farm at Stephenfield. Don worked for the Department of Highways for a few years till he decided to farm with his father-in-law, Ross Laycock and his brother-in-law Earl Laycock. Around 1968 Don decided to go farming on his own and the farm is now farmed by his son, Clint. Don loved his sports. In his younger years he loved to curl and as he got older golf was his passion. He coached his sons in both hockey and baseball, as well as coaching the Junior Goldeyes. When he finished his coaching career you still always saw him at the ball diamond or the rink, cheering all of his kids on and then the grandchildren. Another great passion of Don’s was raising purebred Hereford cattle where he made a lot of lifetime friends. Don will be missed by all.
