May 11, 1922 – February 24, 2011

With deep sorrow and sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Emma Garnett, of Carman on February 24, 2011, aged 88 years. Emma was born May 11, 1922 at Carman, MB.  She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Harold Wesley Garnett on March 12, 1999 and her parents John "Jack" Charles Bodie in 1958 and Isabella Bodie (nee Coull) in 1979 and her half brother George Taylor of Winnipeg, MB in 1966 and her half sister Isabel Wilhelm (nee Taylor) of Lampman, SK in 1992. Emma is survived by her sons Brian (Pat) Garnett of London, ON, Glen (Caroline) Garnett of Yarmouth, NS and her daughters Brenda Garnett (Connie) of Winnipeg, MB, and Marilyn (Wayne) Prince of Emerson, MB. She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam Garnett of Halifax, NS and Katie Garnett of Yarmouth, NS, Tyler Froese of Winnipeg, MB, Trevor (Eva) Froese of Emerson, MB, Megan Prince of Emerson, MB and two great grand-daughters Kyanna and Chloe Froese of Emerson, MB.

Emma volunteered for many organizations in the Carman area.  She served on the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary for many years, for approximately ten years as its President.  She volunteered for the Curling Club, the Golf Club and for all the sports events in which her family was involved.  She was always available to help in the community in any way she could.  Emma was a leader in the Girl Guides of Canada for several years.  She was involved with the planning and fundraising for the building of the Boyne Lodge in the early 1960s. Her children and grandchildren were a huge part of her life. In her last two years at the Boyne Lodge she kept the wonderful staff on their toes with her wit and sense of humour.

Mom, we will miss you dearly, but you will live on in our hearts and memories forever. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations in memory of Emma can be made to the Boyne Lodge in Carman, Manitoba.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace St. John’s Anglican Church, 80 2nd Street Southwest in Carman, MB. A private family interment will follow.
