McDonald_Harry

On Sunday, October 17, 2010, Harry McDonald, beloved spouse of Sherlie Major, passed away peacefully at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 67.

He was predeceased by his parents Archie and Emma McDonald, Sister, Dorothy Fry, Brothers, Robert (Bob), Earl and Ken.

Harry is survived by his 3 children, Ian, (Karen), Rodney, (Amy), Allen (Amanda), 1 brother Winston and wife Wendy, Brother in law, Ray Fry (Tina) Sister-in-Laws, Barb, Marine, Linda and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Harry will forever be missed by his five grandchildren, Jaden, Kaylee, Cooper, Tyson, and Mason.

Harry was born in Carman, Manitoba, where he spent most of his life. He joined the Army with his brother Winston from 1962 to 1972; surviving two tours in Europe and in 1994 received the NATO Special Service Medal.

For 27 years, Harry was a Custodian for the Midland School Division, making many friends with the Students and Teachers. In 2009, Harry received his life membership from the Carman Legion, Branch 18, where he held many executive positions including Commander of Zone 43 and Past President of the Carman Branch. Harry enjoyed traveling to Whitehorse, Yukon and Iquluit, Nunavut.

Harry's Family, would like to thank all those who helped and supported through his passing. Thank you to President Rod McPherson and all the members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 18, the Piper for their tribute, dedication, and support and to the Ladies Auxiliary for the luncheon.

Thank you to Padre Harold Kenyon for his kind words at the memorial service and cemetery and to the organist, Margaret Gopaul, Sheila Wiebe, Jake Derksen and Bob Burnnett for the hymns.

Thank You to Harry's eldest grandson Jaden, for his kind words about his "Grandpa."Grandpa is very proud of you.
