img_1156884757_15602_1272733368_mod_265_348.jpgWith deepest happiness it is announced the passing of Edith Tissot to her eternal resting place form her earthly duties at age of 88.

She leaves behind her son Eddy of Carman, sister Florence Armstorng of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded by her husband Ernie of forty-five years in 1987.  Her mother Elizabeth Clucas in 1966, father Edgar Clucas 1969, sisters Anne Shearer 1985, Marian Ariss 1991, Alice Stewart 1997 and brother-in-laws Harry Shearer, Ellard Stewart, Cliff Ariss and Wreaf Armstrong.

After graduating from Elm Creek High School she was employed as a telephone operator for many years.  She met her husband Ernie and they married in 1942.  They lived at Barnsley (Carman area) and farmed for over thirty-five years.  They retired to Carman in 1978 where she lived until October 2008 when she moved to the Boyne Lodge.  During her life she had been an avid curler and managed to compete in the Manitoba Senior Curling Championships, always played cards daily, lawn bowled, did mending for the Boyne Lodge, member of the United Church, McDermott Ladies Club, she liked to fish and helped her husband Ernie manage Caribou Lodge, a fishing lodge in Cranberry Portage for many summers.

To her family she was well known for her roast chicken supper every Sunday on the farm.  Her Christmas gatherings which could be three days long and maybe over thirty family members at the house might mean she cooked a large turkey, a goose, a duck, a rooster, and still manage to do the daily farm chores.

Special thank you to Gaby Paul, friend and fellow curler, a person who has always been the greatest of help and kindness to Edith and Eddy.  Honorable mention of the late Edith McCullough of Carman who called every evening with the news of the day.  Thank you to all the staff at the Boyne Lodge for the last eighteen months, her home when health problems became an issue.  Thank you to her family doctor Dr. Claydon and Dr. Memon at the Boyne Lodge.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating.  Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman.  Memorial donations may be made to the Boyne Lodge Palliative Care, Box 1644, Carman, MB R0G 0J0 or to a charity of one’s choice.
