Nee (Greenwood)
1916-2010

img_1156884757_15677_1280789857_mod_224_277.jpg It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother on July 29, 2010 at Carman Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her son Ken (Edith) -  Strathmore, Alberta, her daughters Joan McKinnon -  Manitou, Manitoba, Pat Boyd - Portland, Oregon and Judie (Lyall) Owen – Stephenfield Manitoba.
She was a great friend and an inspiration to her 12 grandchildren; Marcia (Ted) Gerlock, Debbie (Steve) Wilcox, Kim (Pat) Lockwood, Cherie Gapasin, Tony Boyd, Dawn (Dwain) Doering, Glenda (Royce) Burnett, Todd (Beth) McKinnon, Stephen (Cindy) Fuller, Dean (Teresa) Owen, Wendi (Lee) Wood and Dale Owen.

Predeceased by her husband Howard, daughter Elaine Fuller, and 3 son - in - laws Gordon Fuller, Ross Boyd and Ken McKinnon.

Mom was born in England January 20, 1916, immigrating to Manitoba at age 13 with her family. In 1933 she married Howard and they farmed in the Stephenfield/Graysville area. In 1955 they purchased a vacant building in Graysville and established the General Store and later added the post office to this venture. Howard and Ada worked side by side for the next 20 years stocking the store with everything from groceries to nuts and bolts, staying open long hours seven days a week for the Graysville community.
In 1977 they retired and continued to live in Graysville. After dad’s death in 1998, mom continued to live in the house they had renovated. She loved her home, her yard, flowers and fought hard to stay there.
A fall in 2003 slowed her down but with the help of homecare, children, grandchildren and good friends Joe and Julie Armstrong, she was able to be independent in her home until a week ago when another fall hospitalized her.
Her great grandchildren will always remember her open door where she was always there with ice cream treats, cheezies and a chat.
Memorial services were held from Doyle’s Funeral Chapel in Carman on Tuesday August 3, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev Cathie Waldie officiating. Interment was located in the family plot in Riverside Cemetary, Graysville.
In lieu of flowers donations to Carman Minor Hockey or charity of one’s choice.
