VELMA PEARL KEITH
July 30, 1921 - November 10, 2010
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our
Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Velma Keith, on
November 10, 2010 at Carman Hospital.
Velma (nee Sandercock) was born on a farm near Morden, MB
and grew up with two sisters and six brothers. After completing
school, she worked on the family farm until she married her
late husband, Alan, in 1941.
They farmed near Morden and in the mid-1950s, moved their family
to a farm near Carman and then eventually relocated to the town of
Carman for their retirement.
Velma was active in sports during her younger years and
continued with senior activities until a few months ago. She had
many hobbies, but her passion was making quilts. Over the
years she made more than 200 quilts which decorate the homes
of her family across Canada.
Velma was predeceased by her husband Alan in 1997. She is
survived by her children, Bob (Lila) of Calgary, AB, Terry (Louise) of
Regina, SK, Margaret (Wayne) of Dawson Creek, BC, and Bill (Cath)
of Port Carling, ON, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren,
one sister and 3 brothers.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Carman Hospital and
Palliative Care for making our Mother's last days as comfortable as
possible. Thank you also for the thoughts, prayers and visits of
friends and family during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Velma's name to the
Carman United Church.
