It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great- aunt on Friday, April 9th, 2010 at the Carman Memorial Hospital.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews: Sister Jean Nixdorf & friend Bruce of 100 Mile House, B.C., sister Catherine Cummer (Edgar) of Roseisle, sister Margaret Neumann of Roseisle, brother Bill Colvin of Atikokan Ontario, and brother Jim Colvin (Elaine) of Roseisle.

Idris was predeceased by her parents Allan & Myrtle Colvin of Roseisle, by her first husband Fred Valterons of Winnipeg, two sisters- in-law Norma Colvin, Carol Colvin, and by two brothers-In-Law Clarance Nixdorf & Joe Neumann.

Idris was born in Carman June 28th, 1931 and was raised and attended school in the Roseisle district. After completing her high school she worked at various jobs in her life time but finally worked many years in Tan Jay’s in Winnipeg. It was there that she met Bert Johnson and was married again. Bert and Idris enjoyed traveling around so they both took early retirement so they were free to go anytime. I think they also enjoyed moving from place to place as they made many moves before settling in Morris where they lived until the passing of Bert.

After Bert passed away Idris was having lots of health problems, so she decided to move back to Carman to be closer to her family. She moved into Evergreen Lodge where she enjoyed her friends and family until her final few months in Carman Hospital. Some of her final words to the family were “Don’t cry for me, be happy for me” (So farewell Pinky).

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Duff of Morden, Dr. Kruk of Carman, and the nurses and staff at the hospital where she received excellent care.  A special thanks to the homecare workers  while in Evergreen, you all have been super good to Idris.  We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. God Bless.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating.  Interment will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman.  Viewing will be at the church prior to the service.  Memorial donations may be made to the Carman Hospital Palliative Care, Box 610, Carman, MB. R0G 0J0.
