Joseph Ernest Guidry
Peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2010, Ernie Guidry, aged 88 years, beloved husband of the late Eileen Guidry of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at the Kildonan Personal Care Home.
Ernie was born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, on January 27, 1922. They moved to Winnipeg in 1963, settling in the St. Vital area and finally residing in Fort Richmond. He was employed by A.C. Nielson Company since 1956. He was responsible for marketing research serving Manitoba and Saskatchewan until his retirement in 1987. Ernie was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all, especially his family.
Ernie leaves to cherish his memory his children; daughter Catharine and husband Bill Lewis; daughter Patty Guidry and husband Ben Kubica; and son David and wife Christine Guidry. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jaclyn (Cory Feschuk) and Susan (Ben Fey); Evan (Esther), Blair (Brooke), Alyson and Erica Cain; Nicholas, Alexander, and Matthew Guidry; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Hunter Feschuk. Also surviving are one brother Val and one sister Dora.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you for the love and care given to Ernie during his stay the last 3 years at the Kildonan Personal Care Home.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Father Phil Daley officiating. Interment will follow at the Brookside Cemetery.
