Mildred Elizabeth Barrett (nee Weidenhamer)
May 21, 1921 - May 27, 2010
Beth passed away peacefully, in her home at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre in Edmonton, on May 27, 2010, in her 90th year.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family: Vivien and Wally Hill, Murray and Cheryl Barrett, Laurel and Eric Laing, John and Billie Barrett; by her ten grandchildren: Judith and Stacey (Hill), Jenna, Cassia and Georgia (Barrett), Mathew and Carla (Barrett), Kate (Nathan), Mark and Jamie (Laing); and by her four great grandchildren: Tasha, Heidi, Garnet and Kayla. She will be dearly missed by her sister Marge Baron, her brother Geordie Weidenhamer, her sister-in-law Margie Weidenhamer and many loving nieces and nephews, as well as by countless friends and relatives.
Beth was predeceased by her parents, Dot (1983) and Alvin (1986) Weidenhamer, her infant sister Dorothy (1925), her son Bob (1969), her brother Toby (1986), her infant granddaughter Amy (1981) and her husband Jim (1989).
Beth was born at home, near Deloraine, Manitoba on May 21, 1921. She received her early education at Dand School, her grade twelve at Deloraine and her teacher training at Normal School in Brandon. She taught at Westhall School before her Marriage to Jim Barrett in 1943. Beth and Jim raised five children. The family lived in the Deloraine and Cartwright communities before moving to Carman, MB in 1967. Beth was an active member of the United Church in each community. She was an Explorer and CGIT leader and was a member of the U.C.W. Beth taught at Carman Elementary School from 1968 to 1980. After retirement in 1980, Beth enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. In 2001, she moved to Alberta where she resided until her passing.
She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre for the exceptional care our Mother received while she was a resident there.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Carman United Church, Carman, Manitoba on June 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre, 5005 – 28th Ave, Edmonton, AB on Saturday June 12, 2010 at 1:30 PM.
