ANDERSON, James A. (Jim) of Brighton, ON died suddenly at the Baltic port of Tallinn, Estonia on Friday, 28th May, 2010, aged 72 years.

Husband and loving companion for 48 years of Carole Anderson (nee Peckover), dear father of David (Castlegar, BC), Derek (Calgary, AB) and Lesley Paterson (Winnipeg, MB), and proud grandfather of Michelle, Ashley and Kearyn Paterson and Alexandra Childerhose. Brother of Frances Watson (Edmonton, AB) and brother-in-law of Glenn Peckover (Carolyn Vogt) of Winnipeg, MB.

Jim enjoyed a long career as a transport pilot, first in the RCAF and then in the civilian aviation industry. Flying was the love of his life and over the years he had completed 7 trips around the globe. He had been a resident of the Brighton area for 33 years. He was actively involved in Freemasonry; a Past Master of United Lodge #29, AF&AM, officer of Presqu'ile-St Marks Chapter, RAM, current Worthy Patron of Colborne Chapter #82 OES, Grand Trustee of the Grand Chapter of Ontario, OES, and previously a 9 year member of the ESTARL Committee. He was a member of Trinity St. Andrews United Church, Brighton and an enthusiastic participant in the Brighton Dragon Boat Club. He was a kind and gentle man, loved by many, and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation was held at the Walas Funeral Home, Brighton on Thursday, 3rd June, preceded by Masonic and OES services. Funeral services were held on Friday, 4th June at Trinity St. Andrews United Church, Brighton, with Rev. Ken Lewis officiating.

Interment will be in the Sperling Community Cemetery.  Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside service Saturday, June 12, at 2:00pm, with a reception following at the Sperling Arena.

As an expression of sympathy, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Trinity St. Andrews United Church Building Fund or the OES Grand Chapter of Ontario Benevolent Fund through the Walas Funeral Home, 130 Main St. W, Brighton ON K0K 1H0.
