DONALD JOSEPH ALLEN

NOVEMBER 19 1930 to DECEMBER 13 2010

The end of a good life came peacefully, if too soon, on Monday, December 13 at the Carman Hospital.  Surrounded by his family, Don Allen quietly joined his mother and father in the presence of his savior.  Don grew up in the St. Daniel area and married his beloved Grace on October 29, 1953.  His memory is cherished by his wife Grace, his sons Rick, Don (Karen), Denis (Tracy) and his doting daughters Kathy (Ian) and Tracy (Ron).  He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren Jason (Leslie), Justin, Melissa, Steven, Lisa (Stephen), Michele, Matthew, Jeremy, Logan, Jayden, Gavin, Kolton, and his treasured companion Bailey.  He is dearly remembered by his brothers George (Evelyn), Lawrence (Joan), and Maurice (Dawn), his two sisters Theresa Crabtree(George) and Ellen Poulsen (Francis), as well as his many  nieces,  nephews and cousins .

Don had many careers during his life: carpenter, farmer, truck driver, mechanic, and businessman, but what he loved being most was a husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend.    A big man, we thought he would go on forever.  He made sure he gave us all a chance to say goodbye.

His family would like to express their deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Carman Memorial Hospital who took such good care of Dad.  Sincere gratitude goes to the home care and palliative care teams.

A funeral mass was held for Don on Thursday, December 16 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Carman.  Internment was at Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, his family has requested donations be made in Don’s name to Carman Palliative Care.

We’ll miss you.  Don’t let your mom cheat you at cards.
