Agatha Friesen

October 26, 1908 – December 11, 2009

Peacefully in the Carman Boyne Lodge on Friday, December 11, 2009 after a long and full life.

In her 102nd year, Agatha is survived by her children Elma Park, David Friesen, Ruth Bacon and Judy (Dan) Michaud, by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, David H. Friesen and her daughter, Esther Rothwell, daughter in law, Pat Friesen, and sons in law: Don Bacon, Colin Rothwell, and Allan (Sparky) Park.  She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Agatha was the family historian who always remembered people’s birthdays and anniversaries with a letter, card or gift.  Her quickness with a humorous quip brought us the gift of laughter and her generosity and thoughtfulness have endeared her to the many generations of her large family and to her wide circle of friends. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

The family expresses their thanks to the caring staff of the Boyne Lodge, especially Val Giesbrecht, and to the palliative care team who accompanied Agatha on her final journey.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Agatha’s life will be held at Carman United Church on January 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boyne Lodge or to the Palliative Care program unit at the Carman Memorial Hospital.
