On Thursday, June 18th, peacefully and with family at her side, Hazel Marian Bell (nee Prior) passed away at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Mom was born in Biggar, SK on November 13, 1918 to William and Ethel (Trimble) Prior.  She married Robert Bell in August 1940 and they farmed together just outside of Miami. During those years she also drove a school bus and delivered milk. As their health started to deteriorate they moved into the Collingwood.  She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Judy (Grant) Orchard and Donna (Jim) Moreton both of Miami.  Five grandchildren Rob (Karen) Orchard, Michael (Rachelle) Orchard, Ang (Marc) Grenier, Carolyn (Jeff) Krawetz and Rick Moreton and friend Kristin. Six great-grandchildren Braden, Taylor, Chad, Shelby, Branson, and Addison.  Hazel also leaves to mourn two brothers, Don (Jean) Prior and Harold (Dot) Prior; brother-in-law Rowland (Margaret) Del Bigio; sisters-in-law Marion (Bill) Goodwin and Bea Bell plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel was known for her love of curling, her quilting talents, and her horseshoe in cards.  She spent much of her life in a curling rink, be it curling, cheering on her family or following the Silver Broom competitions all over the world.     She never turned down a card game, whether it be with her family or at the Friendship centre and was still winning games during her last days in the hospital.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, a good cold beer, root beer floats, and being with her family and good friends.  During her later years in the Collingwood, she enjoyed the great care of the wonderful home care staff that worked there.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robbie in 2005, 2 children in infancy, and one great-grandson.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Boundary Trails Hospital for all the compassionate care she received during the 5 months she spent there.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Miami Collingwood Box 341 Miami, MB R0G 1H0 or The Miami Friendship Centre Box   Miami, MB R0G 1H0.
