Alda Elizabeth Lytle
Peacefully, at Carman Memorial Hospital, Alda went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2008.
Alda was born October 31, 1922, the only child of Stanley and Alice Phillips. She married James Edward (Ted) Lytle on September 26, 1951. She is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Alda was predeceased by her parents and by her husband Ted.
Alda has been a member of the RolandUnitedChurch since 1941. She served as Treasurer for the United Church Women for several years. Recently, she was honoured to receive acknowledgement of her service to the church.
Ted and Alda farmed for most of their married life and on retirement moved to Roland. While farming, Alda assisted with many of the farming tasks such as driving the grain truck. Extensive flower, fruit, and vegetable gardens were a result of their enjoyment of gardening. In addition, Alda worked for several years as a legal secretary for both W.C. McDonald and for Fred Westwood. Ted and Alda enjoyed many travels in their different RV’s and made numerous friends over the years. Several winters were enjoyed in Yuma, Arizona. Cats and dogs had a special place in Alda’s heart. In her latter years, her pet cats were great company for her.
When unable to manage in her own home, Alda moved to Boyne Lodge in Carman Manitoba. The family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Boyne Lodge for her compassionate care while she was a resident there.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roland United Church with Shirley McLaren officiating. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Roland.
