Jessie Eileen Hamilton

(Nee Berry)

March 30, 1911 ~ June 15, 2008

Peacefully in her sleep on June 15, 2008 mom went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Mom passed away at the ripe "young" age of 97 years.

Left to cherish many sweet memories of a very long rewarding life are her son Harold (Lorna), granddaughter Lisa (Jason) Kasdorf, grandson Troy (Tara), great granddaughter Sienna Kasdorf, and great grandson Ethan Hamilton, brother Harvey (Gertrude) Berry of Brandon, Sisters-in-law Florence Berry of Dauphin, Muriel Davidson of The Pas, and Mildred Hamilton of Winnipeg, along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Rev. Arnold Hamilton to whom she was married 52 years. Dad passed away on December 4, 1987. She was also predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary Berry, 4 sisters and 7 brothers.

Born on March 30, 1911 in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba mom spent her adolescent and teen age years living on the family homestead in the Tanner District. She marred dad on April 27, 1935 and they continued farm life until 1942 at which time the Lord called dad into the ministry. They spent two years in Winnipeg while dad completed his theology training with the Pentecostal Assembly of Canada. Their first calling was to pastor a church in Dryden, Ontario (1945-1946), then in Teulon, Manitoba (1946-1963), and finally at Carman, Manitoba (1963-1985). Mom was a very devoted Pastor’s wife and was dad’s "right arm" for over 40 years of service in the Lord’s ministry. Mom and dad were inseparable. Mom especially loved working with children and poured out her heart and soul as she worked with them in Sunday school and her "favorite" Christmas pageants! Mom became known as "Grandma" to almost everyone whose life she touched.

Mom had a very large place in her heart for Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre where she could be found every summer from 1942 until 2006. Here mom was a blessing to countless relatives, friends and associates. Mom was the matriarch at the family cottage and did her utmost to ensure her "darling" grandchildren were kept under control.

After dad’s passing in December 1987, mom moved into the Boyne Towers in Carman, Manitoba where she remained until February of 2007 when she was accepted into Calvary Place Personal Care Home.

Special thanks go out to the 2nd floor south staff at Calvary Place who were so caring and compassionate during mom’s stay with them. Who is going to keep them all in line now? Also heartfelt thanks to nieces Bonnie Berry, and June Laurendeau, and "special" friend "Little Irene" who were such faithful visitors. Also to Pastor Bruce Logan of Calvary Temple.

A funeral service will be held at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg, MB, on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Brookside Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Logan officiating and Pastor H.H. Barber delivering the meditation.

In lieu of flowers donations in mom’s name will be gratefully accepted for Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre, c/o Norm Mitchell, 187 Henlow Bay, Winnipeg, MB, R3Y 1G4.

Always missed, never forgotten.
