Frederika Lucie Giesbrecht (nee Govers)
Freddy Giesbrecht passed away peacefully January 18,2008, at Carman Memorial Hospital, with family members at her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius, in 1976, and young grandson, Jonathan Terra, in 1982.
Freddy is survived by daughters Pat (Frank) Terra, Evelyn (Paul) Froebe, Loretta Evans, Marcia (Bruce) McKenzie; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; one brother, Albert (Mieneke) Govers of Castricum, The Netherlands; three nieces and their families, and cousins, all of The Netherlands.
She was active in the Anglican Church and the Carman Legion Auxiliary, and responsible for starting the 1st Carman Brownie Pack, 1st Carman Girl Guide Company, and the 1st Manitoba Lone Guide Company.
Her passion for nature led her to professions in photography, and later in framing of pictures and works of art. Freddy received great pleasure from tending her garden and sharing its bounty with family and friends.
At this time, the family would like to thank Dr. F. Memmon, the nursing staff of Carman Memorial Hospital, the home care workers, and her many friends for their excellent health care and support.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan.22/08 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace St. John’s Church, 80- 2nd St. S.W. in Carman. Public viewing will take place at the Church, before the service, from 1-1:45 p.m. Internment at the Greenwood Cemetery in Carman and reception at the Church will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charity of one’s choice.
