Peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Carman Memorial Hospital, George passed away at the age of 91.

George was the oldest child of Alec and Ada Angus.  He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 65 years Hazel, sons Bruce (Bonnie) and Jeff (Michelle), sister Jessie, brother Jim, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his parents, son Colin (Faith), and sister Francis.

George was raised in Myrtle until moving to Westbourne to work for the UGG as grain buyer where he met Hazel.  During WWII he joined the navy and served overseas on corvettes for 5 years.  He married Hazel in 1942, returned to Westbourne after the war, and spent time in various Manitoba towns until settling in Brunkild in 1952.  He and Hazel moved to Carman before retiring from the UGG in 1978, but he continued to work and be involved in the community for many years.  He was active in the Legion, Mason’s, Shriner's, Credit Union, hall board, curling, coaching boy scouts, and just about any activity he could.

He had a joke or story for every occasion, and enjoyed other peoples company, whether at social functions or just a game of cards.

The family would like to thank all nurses, doctors, home care, ambulance, and personal care professionals in Carman that made George’s last years as comfortable as possible.  Cremation has taken place, funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman Pentecostal Church with Rev. John Stafford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carman Memorial Hospital, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Doyle’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
