Louisa May Young

(nee: Lowe)

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Louisa May Young, beloved wife of the late Russell Young, on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Carman Memorial Hospital at the age of 93 years.

Louisa is survived by her two daughters and their families; Marlene (Frank) Vergata, and their children Teresa, and Marty (Nikki) and their son Anthony; Barbara (Gary) Hall and their children Shelly Hall (Ramon Aguilera) and their son Kevin Aguilera, and Christel (Charlie) Lopez. Louisa is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Roland, Manitoba on May 6, 1914. She spent many enjoyable years there as a child growing up. In 1939 she married the love of her life Russell Young and they continued to reside in Roland until the early 1950’s, when the decision was made to move to Winnipeg. Both mom and dad made Winnipeg their home and established many life long friendships during their time there. While in Winnipeg, mom was employed by the Timothy Eaton’s Co. and later worked at the University of Manitoba in the cafeteria. Throughout the 93 years of her life family was extremely important to mom. She loved having her family together and enjoyed many camping trips to West Hawk Lake. In her later years she made numerous enjoyable trips to California to visit with family. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and was always up for a good game of cards. In February of 2000 mom decided to move to Carman where she could be closer to some of her extended family. She moved to the Boyne Towers and established many new friendships within the community. Mom lived a full 93 years and she truly enjoyed her life. We are thankful for the many years we had with her and will miss her deeply.
