It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Irene Estelle Peckover, on May 12th at the Boyne Lodge at the age of 84 years young. Although Irene suffered for the past few years with Parkinson's Disease, we do find comfort in that she drifted off into a peaceful sleep and went home on a beautiful spring morning.

Irene was born on the home farm in Graysville to Bill and Louisa Roth, on August 13, 1922. On July 5, 1945 she married Lloyd Peckover and they resided on the family farm in Sperling, Manitoba until the spring of 1995. Irene enjoyed living in her condominium from the spring of 1995 until the fall of 2001, when she moved to the Boyne Lodge. Irene enjoyed farming alongside Lloyd, her gardens, flowers and homemaking. She loved music and danced up until the last few weeks of her precious life. First and foremost in her life always was her family and friends.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, son-in-law Bob Colpitts and two sisters, Jean and Francie. Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughters Elaine (Dick) Walker and Linda (Vic) Baleja, her grandchildren Richard (Erica) Walker, Robyn (Rob) Massa, Brad (Kerri) Colpitts, Clayton Colpitts, Kara (Jamie Gillis) Baleja and Quinn (Cory Struck) Baleja and five great grandchildren, Ryley, Rhett and Gavin Colpitts and Ashley and Kaylie Massa.  Also left to mourn are Irene’s two sisters, Wilma (John) Sandulak of Carman and Velma Pott of St. Malo as well as many nieces and nephews.

At this time the family would like to extend their thanks to the Boyne Lodge staff and all of her family and special friends who have been there for her over these past more difficult years.

We were blessed to have Irene in our lives. Her persistence and determination were present until the end. Her appreciation of even the smallest pleasures was an example to us all.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at 11:00 A.M. at the Church Of Christ in Carman, Manitoba followed by lunch at the Sperling Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Society of Manitoba or to the Boyne Lodge “Friends of the Courtyard”.
