William Owen Davies

April 28, 1925 – August 5, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandpa at the age of 82. After a lengthy illness Bill passed away peacefully on August 5, 2007 at the Deer Lodge Centre with his family at his side.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Hazel; sons Craig (Jill) of Denver, Brent (Christie) and Warren (Bev) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Kurtis, Judy, Leanne, Tegan, Melissa, Jordan and Connor. He also leaves to mourn his sister Marion and nieces and nephews, Lynn, Kevin, Glenn, Dan, Blair and Scott.

Bill was veteran of the Merchant Navy serving from 1939 to 1944 where he enjoyed visiting the many ports of the world. These were probably his happiest years, as he would talk very fondly of his many travels. After his military service, Bill began his long career in aircraft maintenance at McDonald Douglas Aircraft and then ending his 32-year career with Air Canada in 1983.

Dad enjoyed the many outdoor activities with his three boys, especially attending the numerous hockey games no matter how cold it was. He always encouraged his sons and grandchildren to strive to be “the best” at whatever they chose to do. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff, especially Barb, Jan and Linda, on the fourth floor (east) at Deer Lodge Centre.

Cremation has taken place with a private family interment to follow in Morden, Mb. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB. R3A 1P6.
