Helen Carol Cochran

June 15, 1935 ~ March 1, 2007

Carol Cochran slipped away peacefully at the Boundary Trails Health Centre at the age of 71 years after a brave struggle with cancer.

Predeceased by her parents Kline and Elsie Cochran of Carman, Carol will be greatly missed by her sister Marilyn Baker (Tony) of Richmond, B.C., her nephew Michael Wilkie of Vancouver, B.C., and her niece Jennifer Wilkie (Derek Law) of Ottawa, ON. Amanda and Owen have lost one of their biggest fans, their adoring great auntie Carol. She will be fondly remembered by cousins Bob McKenzie and Leanne Kiers, and by many other dear cousins and friends from near and far.

Carol was born and attended school in Carman. She graduated as an RN from Winnipeg General Hospital in 1956. She worked as a nurse in San Francisco for more than 20 years before returning to Carman. Last year she enjoyed a wonderful 50th reunion with many of her nursing school classmates who have proven very thoughtful in writing and visiting her throughout her illness. In her retirement Carol greatly enjoyed golf, bridge, bowling, and always music and reading.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Woelk and the incredibly caring staff at Boundary Trails for their competence and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at Doyle’s Funeral Chapel, Carman, on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will take place in the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, or to a charity of one’s choice.
