Rock Burnett
March 15, 1914 ~ June 11, 2007
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Rockley “Rock” Burnett, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on June 11, 2007, peacefully at home.
Rock is survived by son Bob (Nedra) Burnett of Carman, daughter Joyce (Marcel) Debreuil of Morden, son Ken Burnett of Grande Prairie, Alberta, daughter Judy (Denny) O’Brien of Warner, Alberta, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Rock was predeceased by his wife Annie Corden, son Ray Burnett, daughter-in-law Norma Burnett, special friend Margaret Keiver, is parents John and Blanche Burnett, his brother John Burnett, his sister Hazel Fox and his sister Audrey Burnett.
Rock was born on the family farm in the Tobacco Creek district on March 15, 1914. He was educated in Tobacco Creek and Sharon Schools. In 1940 he married Annie Corden and the spent their married life farming in the area. Although he moved to Carman 20 years ago, Rock kept his strong ties to the farm.
Rock loved old time music and dancing. He had a wealth of information about the history of the Carman and Miami areas and was happy to share with anyone who showed an interest. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, humor and courage.
Funeral services will be held in the Miami Community Hall in Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Miami Cemetery.
