Henry Rausch

The family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Henry Rausch on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the age of 92.

He is survived by his wife Emgard, sons Glen (Maureen) and Ronald (Valerie); grandchildren Karen (Paul) Schultz, Cheryl, Jennifer, Lisa, Brian, Alison (Jake) Wall, Allan and great granddaughter Kyra. He is also survived by his half-brothers Art (Mildred) Giese of Simi Valley, California, Ernest (Marj) Giese of Winnipeg, half sister Thelma Giese of Morris, brother-in-law Alfons (Jeanne) Laudin of Brunkild, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and six sisters.

Henry was born in Brunkild on April 15, 1914 to John and Augusta Rausch. The family moved to Morris when Henry was 12 years old. At the age of 15, Henry decided to go out working to pursue the dream of owning his own farm. When he began farming back in Brunkild, he was grateful to his brothers Bill and Otto for their help in getting him started. His dream was fulfilled when he married Emgard in 1945 and they established the family farm which they worked until Henry’s retirement in 1994.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He served on both the church and local U.G.G. board. Henry and Emgard were able to enjoy many trips abroad and to the U.S.A.

Henry’s family would like to extend their utmost thanks and gratitude to the staff on the 2nd floor of Oakview Personal CARE Home for their care and compassion towards Henry over the last few months.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 4th, 2006 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brunkild at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Leslie Poulin officiating. Interment will take place in the Brunkild Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 136, Brunkild, Manitoba, R0G 0E0.
